DigitalOcean was close to the top of the perf/value charts a few years ago, providing the best value with their shared CPU Basic "droplets". I am actually using DigitalOcean droplets to help out by hosting a free weather service called 7Timer, so feel free to use my affiliate link to sign up and get $200 free - you will help with the free project's hosting costs if you end up using the service beyond the free period. Every decision sounds like choosing safety. But the end result is about 2,900x slower in this benchmark. A database’s hot path is the one place where you probably shouldn’t choose safety over performance. SQLite is not primarily fast because it is written in C. Gray (Gy): A measure of the absorbed dose—that is, how much radiation energy is absorbed by the body. One gray equals 1 joule of radiation energy per kilogram of matter. FLASH delivers a single dose of 40 Gy or more in a fraction of a second. Conventional radiation therapy, by contrast, may deliver a total dose of 40 to 80 Gy but over the course of several weeks.
